Do your pet’s teeth look like this?

(Before dental cleaning)

February is Pet Dental Awareness Month. We are promoting dental health by offering a $50.00 coupon to be used towards your pet’s teeth cleaning, if the procedure is recommended by one of our doctors.

Dental health plays a significant role in the overall health of your pet. 85% of dogs and 70% of cats over one year of age have some degree of periodontal disease, but only 3% get treated.  A sore mouth, due to dental disease, may cause your pet a great deal of pain, bad breath, infection, and discomfort while eating.

Here at BayEastAnimalHospital, we categorize dental disease into four stages, with stage four being the most advanced.

Some symptoms to look for are:
  • Bad breath – one of the first signs of dental disease.
  • A yellowish-brown crust of tartar on the teeth near the gum line.
  • Red and swollen gums.
  • Pain or bleeding while eating, or when the mouth or gums are touched.
  • Decreased appetite or difficulty eating.
  •  Loose or missing teeth.

If you are unsure if your pet needs a dental cleaning, please contact our office to set up a free consultation with a technician.
